Every year, 3,740,000 trees are cut down in the US to make receipt paper. Not only does this cost our earth the beauty and carbon-monoxide reducing benefits that trees provide but also 1,529,660,000 gallons of water, 101,860,000 gallons of oil, 129,140,000 pounds of air pollution, 673,200 cubic yards of landfill space, and 896,940 Kilowatt hours of energy for the process. That's why Shoeboxed is inviting you to recycle receipts with us to honor Earth Day. We'll be accepting receipts through 4.29.2008, when we'll drive to the recycling plant in an earth friendly Prius, to recycle all the old receipts. If you help us achieve our goal to recycle a tree's worth of receipts, we'll even scan all your receipts and load them into your free Shoeboxed account for you before recycling them.
